THE CHOSEN ONE
Neil was a member of the judging panel tasked with selecting the artwork to be installed upon the derelict 'Silo' building at the entrance to the Ipswich Waterfront. There were more than 200 competition entries from artists eager to have their work exhibited on a massive scale!
The installation was recently unveiled (in time for the
Maritime Ipswich Festival 20th/21st August), so check it out the next time you're passing - you can't miss it!
Mural curator John D Edwards explains: "This brilliant new addition to the mural will welcome thousands of visitors to the Waterfront and Ipswich on a daily basis and be seen and talked about across the world. We want people to come and see it for themselves as it emerges from the dock!"
Neil adds: "We chose a piece of art with lots of personality, something which is bound to get people talking. I think it will become a really recognisable and iconic landmark within the town and isn't necessarily what people might be expecting!"
White Space have supported the
Never Ending Mural from the very beginning, so we're all really pleased that it's making such a big impact on the Ipswich landscape. The project is also supported by
Ipswich Borough Council,
other local businesses and over 50 volunteers. Museums Service Collections Manager Jayne Austin enthuses:
"The project is so positive for Ipswich because it involves the whole community and raises the profile of the town's wonderful cultural facilities, while raising funds to save the Ipswich Art School for future generations."
