TOP 5 GREEN TIPS
We thought we'd share 5 everyday tips for reducing your impact on the planet. It's all no-brainer stuff and without jumping on a soapbox, there's really no reason why we couldn't all be doing it.
1. Recycle and use recycled materials. More than 60% of waste can be recycled and we make every effort at White Space to do just that. And woe betide anyone who forgets to sort their drinks cans from their sweet wrappers - our Green Champion Hannah has eyes in the back of her head!
2. Use energy saving light bulbs and switch lights off when they're not in use. Energy saving bulbs typically use around 80% less electricity than normal ones, so you're not only reducing your carbon footprint, but saving a few quid too. Just one bulb can save £100 over its lifetime, so multiply that by all the bulbs in your office!
3. Water conservation. The average person gets through 264 pints of water a day and the majority goes down the toilet, literally. We've installed dual-flush toilets as they're 2-3 times more efficient than standard toilets. And isn't it about time you fixed that dripping tap?
4. Walk or cycle to work. Not only is walking to and from work good for your health (not to mention an effective way to switch off and let the creative juices flow), but it saves money (fuel and parking) as well as the environment. What's that, it takes longer? What's the rush, you're going to work! And if walking/cycling isn't an option, why not car share or hop on public transport?
5. Go paperless as much as possible. Printing isn't something we can avoid unfortunately, but we always think before we print to make sure it's 100% necessary, and our billing team now emails invoices rather than printing and posting. Making paper uses a lot of water, trees and chemicals, and having stacks of paper all over the place does nothing for your Feng Shui!
Hopefully you're doing most (if not all) of this already, and if you're not, perhaps we've inspired you to give it a go?
